Top honours at the 2021 FarmFest young judges competition has been taken out by Scots PGC year nine student Marty Worboys.
Marty beat off more than 80 other young judges in the 12-15 and 16-19 age brackets to claim the prestigious ribbon.
Marty matched the over judge William Goetsch's placements head for head, with Mr Goetsch saying the young man showed a keen eye and huge potential.
"He justified exactly why he put them in that order, it's always a matter of opinion but Marty spoke clearly about his decision," he said.
"The young man had a good eye and made some really relative industry comments, it was clear he knew the market and what the led steers were being sold to do."
Marty said he was incredibly proud to take home the purple ribbon against such tough competition.
Scots PGC agricultural teacher Peter Collett said he was really proud of Marty's love for the industry and ability to communicate.
"Marty is clearly a very talented young man and has a real love for the cattle industry, I'm really proud of the work he has put in," he said.
"I've seen him speak better and take out third, so it's clear he knows his stuff and that the industry is in safe hands."
Marty's win helped Scots PGC take home the most successful school ribbon. Mr Collett said it was great to see his students apply lessons from the classroom to real application.
"Junior judging is a great competition, it really tests students to explain their understandings of the cattle industry," he said.
Mr Goetsch said all the young judges that took part in the day should be proud of their showing.
"It was a fantastic day, every student was a credit to their school and teachers," he said.
"Everyone who had the opportunity to speak did a fantastic job and presented themselves outstandingly."
Reserve champion went to Downlands College senior student Angus Haynes from St George, who won the 16-19 year old bracket.
