Quality by name and stature, the winning run by Stephen Hayward and Kellie Smith's Angus bull K5X Quality Q53 continued on Wednesday when he was named the FarmFest 2021 Battle of the Bulls grand champion.

After taking out his class at Beef Australia 2021 and being named junior champion at Toogoolawah Show on Saturday, this week he caught the eye of judge Julie Pocock-Iseppi.

The rising 20-month-old first took out the British junior bull (under 20 months) class, before beating stablemate K5X Pioneer P36 - the British senior bull - to be named champion British bull.

He then went up against champion European bull Provenance Rainin Whiskey from Provenance Limousins and champion tropical bull Nioa Rocketman R43 from Nioa Santa Gertrudis for the top accolades.

It was a tough choice for Ms Pocock-Iseppi, who whittled the entries down to the final three from almost 50 exhibits, saying all three champions were 'really classy'.

"There's not anything I would change about any of them, but on the day the one that's the closest to what I'd take home is the Angus bull," she said.

"The British bull is very clean through his front and structurally very sound."

Sired by Merridale Mitchell M133 and out of K5X Charlotte L38, Mr Hayward said Quality Q53 stood out for his completeness, sire appeal, bone, and smoothness.

"It was good to come out here and be competitive with other breeds, being an interbreed show," he said.

"He'll now go onto the Ekka and then he'll be at our sale at Roma on August 30."
