Rising to industry challenges through continual improvement, a deep commitment to sustainability and investment in the next generation were clear themes at Beef Australia 2021.
That's according to Nutrien Ag Solutions managing director Rob Clayton, who said the community and government support on display at the event underlined the industry's importance to the Australian economy and to the fabric of regional communities.
"The livestock industry has a long, proud history in Australia and continues to make a significant contribution to the Australian economy," Mr Clayton said.
"Good prices and rain in most regions has the industry buzzing, and there was a really positive atmosphere in Rockhampton for Beef 2021.
"It was great to see a big focus on technology and sustainability across all the sites at Beef 2021. I want to congratulate the industry on its Beef Sustainability Report for 2021 which was launched last week, indicating the huge strides the industry is taking in protecting the environment and the areas where we must continue to improve."
This year, Nutrien Livestock threw their support behind the Commercial Cattle Competition, Commercial Cattle Sale of Champions and Feature Sale, and the Stud Cattle Championship as naming sponsors.
Stud Stock manager - North Queensland, Dane Pearce said the event always attracts a top-quality line-up of cattle and 2021 was no different.
"The cattle exhibited last week were well presented and continue to attract a lot of attention," Mr Pearce said.
"The industry continues to raise the bar and this year is no different - we have seen an exceptional quality line-up of stock across all competitions at Beef 2021."
Mr Clayton said it was great to see the next generation of livestock agents and producers in the spotlight at Beef 2021.
"The industry is really embracing the talent, passion and leadership of the next generation of livestock agents and producers," he said.
Nutrien Rockhampton livestock agent Justin Rohde recently participated in the ALPA National Young Auctioneers Competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, and was heavily involved in Nutrien's efforts at Beef.
"The introduction of new innovative systems and technologies is pushing the industry to another level which is really exciting," Mr Rohde said.
"The livestock industry is really one big family - we all have the same goal and I receive a lot of support by my peers, so I am really looking forward to seeing what the future has in store."
