Leadership and resilience were two themes to emerge from the highly entertaining keynote address at the Westpac High Tea at Beef Australia today.
The sellout event saw more than 500 mostly ladies gather in The Stadium to share high tea and hear Rachael Robertson's inspirational story.
Ms Robertson inadvertently found herself leading an expedition to Davis Station, Antarctica, at the age of 35 despite being "not particularly adventurous" and proclaiming to have none of the practical skills required.
She was forced to draw on her knack for leading as she bought together a diverse team of up 120 scientists, engineers, and tradies during the "summer" and managed the remaining team of 18 who stayed in 'ice-olation' throughout the long, dark Antarctic winter.
Ms Robertson said there were many lessons from her time in the Antarctic that she could share with rural and regional women.
Full story on Ms Robertson's adventure to come.
