Agents penned 3139 cattle at Dalby down by 584 head on last week. Heavy rain continued to fall during the sale. Cattle were drawn from local and western areas with a large consignment of store cows from the far west. All the regular export processors were present and operating along with the usual feeder buyers and local and interstate restockers who were very active in the market.
Light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers averaged 554c and sold to 698c/kg. Yearling steers in the 280-330kg range returned to the paddock at 550c to average 512c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg made 520c and averaged 483c/kg. Heavy yearling steers to feed made 434c/kg.
Yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged 506c and made to 554c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed for the domestic market sold to 506c and averaged 475c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 408c and made to 473c/kg.
Grown steers to feed sold to 426c and averaged 389c/kg. Grown heifers again to feeder buyers sold to 391c and averaged 376c/kg. A large number of western store cows averaged 299c and made to 328c/kg. Good heavy weight score 3 cows to processors averaged 296c and made to 307c/kg. Heavy bulls to export processors sold to 320c/kg.
