THE Red Poll breed was on full display at Beef 2021, with three distinguished breeders exhibiting quality genetics to crowds in Rockhampton.
Class numbers increased compared to previous exhibitions, with nine head of cattle exhibited at this year's Beef Australia compared to four entries in 2018.
Despite the small numbers, this did not detract from the quality on show in the Red Poll judging ring.
The animals were constructively critiqued by internationally renowned stud judge Grame Hopf from Murwillumbah in NSW and his associate judge Lilleah Newberry from Lil Vale Red Polls stud.
Grand champion female honours went to 14-month-old Lagoona Miss Naughty and Nice, exhibited by stud principle Tim Light, Lagoona Red Poll in Armidale.
The Lagoona Red Poll stud also claimed the top exhibitor's group and sire progeny stakes.
Taking out the grand champion bull was the Omega 3 stud owned by stud principles Nick and Prue Lee from Quirindi in NSW.
It was the Lee family's eight-month-old bull calf Omega 3 Sunil who seized the top title on the day.
Ms Lee said her young bull had a "good chance" of bringing home the champion title.
"The young bull exhibited outstanding carcase genetics," Ms Lee said.
"We only brought three head this year, but we've been exhibiting cattle since 2009."
The Lee family also won grand champion bull at Beef 2018.
