Valuable insights into herd rebuilding, genetic improvement and scaling up across the sector will be delivered to guests at the WagyuEdge 2021 Annual Conference and Tour taking place from April 27 to 29, at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.
Australian Wagyu Association CEO Matt McDonagh said the Wagyu sector has been impacted by drought, fire, flood and more recently Covid-19 and access to Australian export markets.
"During WagyuEdge leading Australian and international Wagyu operations will discuss their experiences, factors underpinning their success, and how they've approached these challenges," Mr McDonagh said.
He said the annual event is a mecca for the global Wagyu industry.
"The conference is an opportunity to bring together all components of the Wagyu sector in a forum of learning and networking to help the industry to advance Wagyu. The Australian Wagyu sector is the leading producer and exporter of Wagyu to international high-end markets.
"The AWA now has more than 150 international members. This year, the entire event will be live streamed to enable overseas members of the AWA to participate."
A particular highlight of the conference is the Elite Wagyu Sale, and an additional treat for attendees is the 2021 Wagyu Branded Beef Competition Gala Dinner announcement ceremony.
Guest speakers for WagyuEdge 2021 include Jason Strong who will give an overview of the Australian premium beef market for exports, while two prominent researchers from Japan will share their knowledge and insights into Japanese Black Wagyu production.
The tour portion of the event will see delegates take in southern and central Queensland Wagyu operations between April 30 and May 3 and will finish up at Beef Australia 2021 in Rockhampton, where the AWA will be available to visitors in the Durack Pavilion.
