A golden opportunity to buy quality Taroom breeding and finishing country will exist when the 13,282 hectare property Glenleigh is put to the test at auction at the local Leichhardt Hotel on March 25 at 11am.
Marketing agents Nutrien Harcourts GDL Roma rural property repesentative John Sims, along with GDL Taroom branch manager Graeme McAdam are handling the forthcoming sale of Glenleigh.
The property is being offered by Bill and Joan Cogill who are selling so they can retire.
Marketing agent John Sims said Glenleigh has consistently carried the equivalent of 1200 breeding cows plus progeny to weaning, and has the potential to vastly increase the capacity with further timber treatment.
"The cattle sold off Glenleigh regularly top the market at Dalby Saleyards and are highly sought after," he said. "The offering of this property certainly represents an 'end of an era' as it has been in the same family ownership for over 100 years."
Mr Sims said Glenleigh is situated 50 kilometres north west of Taroom on the Glenhaughton Road with 21 km of bitumen, with the balance an all-weather gravel road.
The country consists of 1000ha of developed softwood and vine scrub country, and approximately 17,854ha of undulating, good quality forest breeding country well established to buffel and native grasses.
There is double frontage to Robinson Creek throughout the property, which gives access to massive areas of soft, well grassed flats and valleys.
Mr Sims said that combined with the Robinson Creek system the country was securely watered by 12 bores (one electric, one solar and 10 with portable 240 volt generators), which are all equipped with submersible pumps, tanks and troughs.
He said there were seasonal holes in Robinson Creek and the bore depths range from 150 ft to 1000 ft, which gives superb water quality and supply.
The country is subdivided into 10 main grazing paddocks plus holding paddocks. There is an older style four-bedroom homestead, utility and storage sheds, main stock yards of steel and timber construction with vet crush and branding cradle and a smaller set of trucking yards handy to front boundary.
