The RACQ Capricornia Rescue helicopter was dispatched to Middlemount this morning, after a man riding a quad bike collided with a barbed wire fence.
The man was riding an all-terrain vehicle on a rural property in the area when he accidentally hit the fence, causing significant lacerations to his neck.
In addition to the severe lacerations, the man was also treated for superficial injuries following the fall from the ATV at high speed.
He was found soon after the crash by others on the property and treated at the scene by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics before being transported to a rest stop on the Fitzroy Development Road.
The RACQ Capricornia Rescue on-board critical care paramedic and doctor then worked to further stabilise him before he was airlifted to the Rockhampton Base Hospital.
