It's the final countdown for beef producers to submit their entries for the 2020 RNA Paddock to Palate Competition and 2021/22 Wagyu Challenge presented by JBS Australia.
Entries close Friday, January 15, with more than $54,000 in prize money up for grabs and the invaluable chance for producers to benchmark their cattle against other leading producers.
2021 marks the 24th year of the competition, showcasing the finest beef the industry has to offer.
The competition - hosted by the Ekka - takes part in three phases; best aggregate weight gain; carcase; and MSA eating quality. While the Wagyu Challenge is done in four, finishing in a beef taste-off judged by some of Queensland's top chefs.
Last year, Queensland beef producers took a clean sweep in the first phase of competition and split a total prize pool of almost $65,000.
This year's entries will not be extended due to the timing associated with the delivery of the Zoetis vaccine. Once the entry has been received, Zoetis will contact applicants to arrange distribution of the Bovi-Shield MH-One vaccine.
