There were 310 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday. A wet sale saw cattle sell for prices never seen before, with buyers from St George to Glen Innes purchasing.
Crowley Pastoral, Fordsdale, sold Charbray cows for $1610. Ken Klein, Cedarton, sold Droughtmaster cows for $1400 and Charbray cows with young calves at foot for $2120. Dan Richards, Kilcoy, sold 18-month-old Droughtmaster steers for $1690 and 12-month-old steers for $1460.
Des Poole, Veradilla, sold Angus cattle, 12 to 14 months, with steers making $1530 and heifers $1380. Don and Joyce Wegner, Fordsdale, sold Hereford cross weaners, 12 to 14 months, with steers making $1500 and $1430, and heifers $1360 and $1260.
Dargalong Cattle Company, Westvale, sold 12-month-old Brangus steers for $1440. Jim O'Keeffe, Ingoldsby, sold five to six-month-old Charbray calves, with steers making $1240 and heifers $1080. Gary Stark, Forest Hill, sold lines of Murray Grey calves, four to five months, for impressive results, with males making $1100, $1095 and $1010 and heifers $1015 and $900.
Collins Grazing, Anduramba, sold 10-month-old Charbray weaners, with steers making $1285 and $1190 and heifers $1080. Terry Pitt, Blenheim, sold Hereford weaners, eight to 10 months, with steers making $1250 and heifers $950.
Russell Duncan, Mt Mee, sold Brahman weaners, seven to eight months, with steers making $1170 and $1085, and heifers $1090. BP Grazing, Sheldon, sold seven to eight-month-old Droughtmaster weaners, with steers making $1250 and $1030. Cameron Erbacher, Atkinsons Dam, sold Angus calves, with steers making $1280 and heifers $840.
Harrison Rural, Woodlands, sold lines of Brahman heifers for $1130, $1125 and $1110 and six-month-old Brahman steers for $960. Josh Sippel, Caboolture, sold Murray Grey heifers for $1355. Ian Lake, Forest Hill, sold a Jersey cow and calf for $1300.
