Livestock and property agents Netty and Gary Wendt of Ray White Rural Gracemere firmly have their hearts in their thriving central Queensland business.
The couple began their agency careers working for Bartholomew and Co, Beaudesert, which has led them to being principals of their existing business.
They joined Ray White Livestock Gracemere in 2011 with Mr Wendt working as a livestock agent and auctioneer while Ms Wendt was working in real estate and livestock settlements under principals Geoff and Suzy McNamara.
At the end of the 2017-18 financial year, the Wendts took the opportunity to buy the Ray White Rural Livestock franchise.
"The rural industry and livestock is really what we both know and love," Ms Wendt said.
Since getting her real estate licence in 2011, she has been overseeing a portfolio of sales on rural acreage, urban real estate and smaller rural blocks, while also keeping her finger on the pulse of the industry at livestock sales in central Queensland.
"My goal is to grow the business and I am working towards getting listings on some larger-scale properties to sell," she said.
"Rural clients expect the agent to understand their business, and knowledge of the cattle market is a key part of this, so I try to be up on the rails at CQLX as bid spotter or clerk whenever I can."
"Although the majority of livestock agents, and large-scale rural property agents, are men, I can honestly say that all of the gentlemen I have worked with are nothing but supportive and encouraging of seeing more women in the industry."
Ms Wendt said she enjoyed being part of the Ray White Rural network and the opportunity being a part of a group of like-minded people gave to assist in growing their livestock and rural real estate business.
"Gary and I have been a husband and wife team since we have been married and work well together and I think we complement each other," she said.
"I enjoy forming trusting relationships with rural producers who are a wonderful mix of caring, hard-working, innovative, resilient and respectful people, which has brought me to where I am today."
