A uniformly first-rate selection of 30 unjoined registered heifers will be offered by eight highly regarded Queensland-based studs at the seventh annual Cream of the Crop Droughtmaster Female Sale being held on Saturday, November 28 from 10am at the Coolabunia Sales Complex, Kingaroy.
The day will also incorporate a dispersal sale for the Truvalle Droughtmaster Stud, for which stud principal Margaret Wilson will be presenting a genetically diverse 82 lot draft.
Sale committee chairman Graham Brown the vendors have selected their drafts with the aim of offering structurally correct females with excellent temperament.
"The sale vendors have been presenting quality lines of cattle at this sale year after year. Most of the females usually find homes within southern Queensland, but they've also sold into Central Qld," he said.
At the 2019 sale, nine vendors sold 34 registered females to average $2146 for joined and unjoined females.
The top priced female Nindethana Karina (P), a 17-month-old unjoined heifer, was offered by Bronwyn Betts and Michael Hawkins, Nindethana Droughtmasters and sold for $5500. Buyer of the top priced female was the then seven-year-old Kobi Coulter of AAKKA Droughtmasters, Mt Kilcoy.
Mr Brown said the 2019 sale results were in line with expectations, based on the cattle market at the time and seasonal conditions throughout most of Australia.
"We continue to market the quality available at this sale and aim to build a buyer base and good reputation. The widespread rain has led to a strong seasonal outlook, which bodes well for the competition come sale day."
He said the Truvalle draft will be comprised of a consistent line of quality cattle, which due to the long, rich history of the stud are held in high regard by Droughtmaster breeders.
"While it will be a sad day for Margaret, I'm guessing she chose to partner with us as we have facilitated a number of other dispersal/reduction sales over the years."
The lots drafted for the sale will be available for inspection from 3pm on Friday, November 27 at the saleyards. The sale offers bulk buyer and outside agent rebates.
Cattle will be scratched clean prior to the sale to allow immediate access to tick free areas.
