NOEL and Liz Cook, Moruya Feedlot, Goondiwindi, have taken out top honours at Boyd O'Brien Bartholomew's annual Moreton Classic Beef Show and Sale, exhibiting the champion grainfed pen. The three outstanding 741kg Santa steers sold for 415.2c/kg to return $3079/head.
The champion grainfed export beast was a 775kg Charolais-cross steer from Kingsford Farms, Warwick, which made 421.2c/$3264.
Bernie Duncombe, Nanango, scored the champion grassfed award for a 695kg Charolais-cross steer at 395.2c/$2746. Benamitchy Limousins, Gilston, had the champion trade beast. The 505kg Limousin steer sold for 430c/$2171.
A quality line of 200 feeders were also offered. The Eggleston family, Toogoolawah, had the champion pen of feeder heifers with a pen of Charolais-cross which made 405.2c/$1458. Heifers from Wells Family Trust, Coulson, made 413.2c/$1446.
The champion pen of feeder steers came from the Hills family, Chinghee Creek. The 488kg Droughtmasters made $1977.
