Demand and the momentum for quality seedstock is not waning after the results of last week's inaugural Karragarra Simmental sale at Emerald.
The last Simmental sale of the year proved a gold mine for vendors Wayne and Ingrid York, posting an Australian Simmental breed record for a sale average when the fixture produced a phenomenal medium of $12,947.
The result was on the back of a complete clearance with bulls hitting highs of $22,000, selling to a buying gallery from the North Burnett to Longreach and across the state.
The catalogue averaged in age at a youthful 22-months, delivered fat depth scans of 9mm and 7mm, and featured 26 polled or scurred individuals throughout the draft.
Matthew Kirk, Ticoba stud, Mundubbera, secured the top seller, the $22,000 Karragarra Pathway (P).
At 23-months-old, Pathway weighed 842 kilograms, had an eye muscle area of 150 square centimetres and measured 11mm and 9mm in fat depths.
Acting through Elite Livestock Auctions, Mr Kirk secured his only purchase, a herd bull grandson by LFE Black Lakota (P) which was the only red entry on offer.
Putting a floor in the market was Lance Horsley, Morella, securing six for a $14,333 average.
These topped at $18,000 for a poll by Casa Toro Red Heart (P), weighing 945kg and measuring 146sq cm in the EMA at 24-months.
Another of the heavy investors were John and Jan Burnett and family, Burnett Enterprises, Jo Jo, Alpha, with a haul of five for a $16,200 average.
The top selection for the Burnett operation was the $19,000 Karragarra Pistol (P), by Billa Park High Impact (P).
Hazelwood Pastoral Company, Holbourne, Springsure, took with them four for a $9750 average topping at $11,000 on two occasions.
Keith and Annabel Chandler, Glentulloch, Injune, accounted for three for a $12,667 average, topping at $14,000 for a 20-month-old poll by Daraabah N McCool (P).
Ken and Kerry McKenzie, Yaralla, Blackwater, picked up a pair for on average $15,500, topping at $19,000 for the 21-month-old, 826kg Karragarra Parker (P) (Lucrana Legend (P).
Another taking two was Sid Godwin, Tanderra, Springsure, for a $16,000 medium.
The Godwin selections topped at $18,000 for the 24-month-old, 864kg, Karragarra Panasonic (Billa Park Poll Fusion (P)).
The Gleeson family, Fairview, Alpha, were active in the market taking two for a $11,000 average, topping at $12,000.
The Davidson family, Cheshire, Tambo, also signed off on two topping at $10,000 to average $9500.
Alan and Julie Hay, Eka, Jericho, were another of the western Queensland producers to support the fixture, purchasing two for $13,000 apiece.
Jean Statham and family, Possession Creek, Mitchell, outlaid on average $13,000 for their two males, topping at $16,000.
The Braitling family, Maree Downs, Springsure, took the $13,000 Woonallee Kansas (P) son, Karragarra Peter Pan (P).
