ULTRABLACK bulls sold to a top of $14,000 and Brangus to $8000 at the Nindooinbah on property spring sale at Beaudesert on October 8.
In arguably what was the best value sale of the 2020 bull selling season for top quality genetics, the 19 Ultrablack bulls sold averaged $5763, while the seven Brangus averaged $4786.
The sale topping Ultrablack went to repeat buyer Melrose Station, Killarney. That 848kg, 25 month old boasted near perfect 200, 400 and 600 day growth and mature cow weight figures.
Stuart Dougall, Wilrose Trust, Tiaro, bought four including paying the second top price of $13,000. That 24 month old, 784kg, lengthy Brinks bull was a leader in birth weight, gestation length and both eye muscle area and retail beef yield.
Stuart Mitchell, Cashel Vale, Bollon, was also back at Nindooinbah, paying to a top of $7000 for his selection of three.
Mr Mitchell said he was very pleased to have been able to secure the three bulls he had "double ticked" prior to the sale.
"The Ultrablacks have done exceptionally well at Bollon," Mr Mitchell said.
"We've had very little rain, and Ultrablack cattle continue to perform just magnificently."
Nindooinbah Ultrablacks are well recognised as a adapted Angus solution for northern Australia, having a fixed 18.75 percent Bos indicus content.
The top priced $8000 Brangus was snapped up by NSW Northern Rivers region producer John Barber and family, Mallanganee.
That extremely well constructed, 37.5pc content bull bred from MC Something Special. The 758kg, 24 month old came with exceptional figures, particularly for scrotal size, growth and intramuscular fat. The Barbers also paid $7000 for an Ultrablack.
Nindooinbah also offered 34 PTIC Ultrablack and Brangus heifers.
The top pen went to Lex Freeman, Rosehill, Beaudesert, for $4250/head.
Rod and Julie Edwards, Beaudesert, also bought a pen of 19 and 20 month olds for $3500.
First time buyer Peter Stephenson, Delaney's Creek, bought five pens, paying to a top of $2750.
Mr Stephenson said the tick resistant cattle would be incorporated into his farm's regenerative grazing program near Woodford.
"I was particularly impressed by the docile temperament of the heifers," Mr Stephenson said. "Euan Murdoch and Nick Cameron are certainly doing a tremendous job with their cattle."
