Rene stud, Culcairn comprises of three terminal breeds- Poll Dorset, White Suffolk and Charollais and studmaster Scott Mitchell had a 'mind blowing day' when he recorded a complete clearance of the 165 rams he had offered last Friday.
Top price for the sale was $4100 paid for a White Suffolk sire: while $2800 was the top price paid twice for a Poll Dorset and $3400 was the top price paid twice for a Charollais.
"The result was absolutely outstanding," Mr Mitchell said. "On the back of a very good season and with a strong prime lamb market, there is a lot of confidence in the industry."
Mr Mitchell was especially pleased with the response to the introduction of the Charollais, a French prime lamb breed.
"It was amazing," he said.
"We went out on a limb and saw the Charollais had a great place in the industry and we have confidence they will go a long way.
"To see the support and confidence in our genetic direction from existing and new clients was very pleasing."
In the Poll Dorset draft, top price of $2,800 (twice) was paid by B.W, B.R & A.J Terlich, Henty.
Volume buyer of Poll Dorsets was Stephen Thompson Dalveen, Qld who bought 12 Rams averaging $2,133.
In the Charollais draft, top price of $3,400 (twice) was paid by McNamara Farm Pty Ltd from WA: while volume buyer Roger Shore, Doon Culcairn selected ten rams averaging $1,950.
Brendan Ebsary, Kangaroo Island, SA paid $2,000 for his choice of the Charollais draft.
In the White Suffolk offering, top price of $4,100 was paid by Jacob Ryan, Echuca, Victoria: while the volume buyer was G.P Mazzocchi, Morven, NSW who took five rams home for $2,000 average price.
GTSM, Yackandandah settled the sale with Michael Glasser and James Brown taking the bids.
