The final day of the Rockhampton Brahman Week Sale has kicked off at Gracemere, with red sires going under the hammer.
Day one of the sale didn't disappoint, with a record top price recorded not once, but twice.
Gavin Scott, Rosetta Grazing, Collinsville, joined forces with Owen Scott and family, Ruan Grazing, Clermont, to secure Clukan Boabab 365/8 (IVF) (PS) for $210,000 from Steve and Theresa Taylor, Clukan Brahmans, Jambin.
Day two hit a top of $90,000 when red sire Brahrock Raydar 6163 (IVF) (PS) entered the ring on behalf of Royce and Beryl Sommerfeld, Brahrock Brahmans, Maryborough.
Australian Brahman Breeders' Association manager Anastasia Fanning said the bulls chosen for inclusion in the draft, including 526 registered grey bulls, 310 registered red bulls and 24 herd bulls, 305 of which are polled, were selected for their quality of breed characteristics, structural correctness and easy doing ability.
"This sale's appeal lies in the stringent guidelines by which it's operated. Vendors are limited in their numbers however if they achieve the sale average with their draft they will be rewarded with being able to sell more bulls in this renowned sale next year," Mrs Fanning said.
The 2019 sale topped at $105,000 twice for Carinya Milwaukee (H), offered by John and Dawn Kirk and family, Carina Brahmans, Gayndah, and bought by Will and Tracy Fenech, Fenech Cattle Co, Wowan, in partnership with Mark, Belinda and Walter Wilson, Banana Station, Banana.
The other top priced sire was Mt Callan Scully 19/18 (AI) (P), offered by Noel and Manny Sorley, Mt Callan, Dalby, and bought by Charters Towers producers Brian and Glenda Kirkwood, Somerview.
