A top notch draft of 60 Classified S and herd bulls have been catalogued for the Clermont Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale taking place at the Clermont Saleyards on Tuesday, November 24, from 11am.
Nutrien Livestock Clermont sale agent Bryton Virgo said the sale will see drafts offered by the Dunlop, Diamond H, Glen Oaks, Jamar, Waco, Yarrabee and Yarrawonga studs.
"All of the vendors have held private stud sale's earlier in the year for which the bulls on offer at Clermont were too young, however they now hit the spot age-wise and will all provide quality additions for stud and commercial herds," Mr Virgo said.
He said if there is a change in the season between now and sale day there is a good chance that an impressive sale result will be recorded.
"The country is a little dry, and there is a bit of a fed shortage in Central Queensland at present. We're hoping there will be a rain change over the next three to four weeks to help the end of year sales across the state hold up with what has been a strong year for stud cattle selling."
Mr Virgo said with free delivery to Charters Towers, Emerald and Alpha being offered to prospective buyers, the sale organisers are again expecting a good spread of buyers from within and outside of the CQ area.
"We were happy with the sale result and the amount of buyers in attendance at last year's sale, in what were very tough selling conditions due to the dry, so we're hoping to match or exceed that result this year."
In all 51 bulls sold at the 2019 sale to average $6837 for a top price of $16,000.
Matt and Ann Comiskey, Port Wine, east of Alpha, made the winning bid on the 2019 top price bull Waco Partner P746 (PS), offered by David and Suzanne Bassingthwaighte of Waco Santa Gertrudis, Mungallala.
Weighing in as one of the heavier bulls in the sale at 985kg, on sale day, he had an impressive eye muscle area measurement of 150 square centimetres and P8 and rib fat measurements of 12mm and 7mm respectively.
All bulls selected for the sale will be yarded by Sunday, November 22, and inspections are welcome from Monday, November 23, and on the Tuesday prior to the sale beginning.
Mr Virgo said the sale catalogue will be available from Nutrien Livestock in the next four to six weeks.
"The catalogue, along with photos and videos of the individual sale lots, will be available earlier than that on the Clermont Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale Facebook page."
The sale proceedings will adhere to any Covid-19 regulations that are in place at the time.
