Santa Gertrudis classified bulls sold to a top price of $50,000 for David and Sonya Greenup and family, at the Rosevale Santa Gertrudis stud annual on-property sale, near Jandowae on Tuesday.
In all, 88 purebred classified bulls sold to an average of $11,636, while 51 herd bulls topped at $16,000 to average $7882.
The combined offering of 139 bulls averaged $10,259.
The top priced bull was Rosevale Quicksilver Q256 (P), is by the noted Rosevale Jackaroo J566 (P) from Rosevale Treasure B171 (P). The Treasure female family is one of the Greenup's most fertile lines.
Rosevale Quicksilver Q256 (P) is an eye catching bull with sire appeal. His performance is consistent across all traits with his high eye muscle and fat depth a feature.
The successful buyers were Shaun and Jo McGuigan, Cree Santa Gertrudis stud, Thangool.
A repeat buyer of Rosevale genetics, Mr McGuigan said they are impressed with the data provided by the Greenups, and Quicksilver Q256 represented a unique blend of breed character and reproductive traits.
A partnership of Andrew and Kate Chapman, Rowanlea Santa Gertrudis, Calliope and Roy and Nan Robertson, Fishington Stud, Armidale, NSW paid $40,000 for the 19 month-old Rosevale Maverick Q1180 (P).
By Rosevale Maverick M192 (P) from Rosevale Sally H253 (PS) a daughter of Rosevale Jackaroo J566 (P),Marverick Q1180 (P) his performance data of fertility, growth, muscle, and finishing ranked him one of the best within the breed.
He backs this up with an 85 per cent normal semen morphology result taken as a yearling.
Mr Chapman also a repeat buyer, said he came especially to buy this bull.
"He is completely balanced, with impressive data, including estimated breeding values, and fertility," Mr Chapman said.
The Chapmans will use Marverick Q1180 (P) in their forthcoming joining season, while the Robinson will use him for their next autumn joining.
Stud principal David Greenup said they were really happy with the sale result, and the current confidence in the beef industry.
"We do not present our bulls in a more forward condition like other stud operations, as we like our buyers to appreciate our genetics," he said.
"We enjoy a high percentage of repeat buyers who underpin our sale.
Commercial breeders the Murray family, Kindee Patoral Co, were keen operators throughout the sale and finished with nine bulls to average $11,300 for their breeding operations at Muya, Injune, and Cowangah, Taroom.
