Limited numbers of export cattle sold firm to previous sale results at Toowoomba on Monday, with 185 head yarded. Young cattle sold firm to a shade dearer with local and interstate buyers in the marketplace.
No heavy bulls were yarded and the best feeder bulls returned $1665. A heavy feeder steer from Kingaroy returned $1652.
The best cows from Doug Nothdurft, Coalbank, weighing 635kg returned $1715. A Charolais cow from Ian Bebbington weighing 670kg returned $1750.
Trade steers from Allan Henschell, Pittsworth, returned $1767 and trade heifers from Cambooya returned $1590.
Vealer heifers off their mothers from Kevin Roche sold for 410.2c/kg to return $1276 and a lightweight Angus steer returned to paddock at 476.2c.
Strong interest at pig sale
There were 177 pigs sold at Toowoomba on Monday. Pork and bacon sold a little softer for the pigs on offer, sows sold to the highs of last week, stone pigs came forward in large numbers with all buyers going strong to fill orders.
Prime pork sold for $236 and prime light bacon for $224. Boars sold for $285 and sows fetched $600. Forward stores sold for $200, weaners made $170 and suckers returned $115.
