Classified bulls hit $42,500 while their purebred counterparts climbed to $18,000 at the Annual Santahat Santa Gertrudis Bull Sale, Monto, yesterday.
Recording the seasonal best average for the Santa Gertrudis breed, vendors, the Hatton family witnessed a complete clearance for their 41 head fully oats prepared catalogue.
Market topper at $42,500 was the 19-month-old, 718kg, Santahat Q132 (P) (132EMA) selling to a partnership between the Yarrawonga and Diamond H Studs.
The new owners of the bull, Andrew and Fiona Bassingthwaighte, Yarrawonga Stud, Wallumbilla and Shane and Helen Hatton and family, Diamond H Stud, Chinchilla fended off a strong challenger in the form of Norm Black, Airedale Stud, Federal, New South Wales.
The average age of the draft was a youthful 21-months and as a group the bulls recorded an average liveweight of 715kg with an average ribeye measurement of 122cm sq and average fat depth scans of 10/7mm.
