Buyers from northern and central Queensland were active at the Nobbs Families bull sale at Moura on Friday to see a 93 per cent clearance.
Attracting 47 registered bidders, the sale hit a top price of $20,500, with 72 of the 77 bulls offered by the five vendors selling for an average of $7194, to gross $518,000.
Once again, it was a Red Brahman offered by Stewart and Tom Nobbs, Yoman Brahmans, Moura, that made the top money.
Purchased by Leon Brennan, Boonah and Beaudesert, the 31-month-old Yoman SAS3274/8 (PS) weighed in at 916 kilograms and measured 39 centimetres in the scrotal.
Sired by Rockley Tyrion (PS) and from a Somerview Macho Man daughter, the sire prospect had an eye muscle area of 138 square centimetres, P8 and rib fat of 13mm and 9mm respectively, and an intramuscular fat of 4.4pc.
Mr Brennan said the bull would be put over Grey Brahman cows to breed replacement heifers.
"He's a really correct bull, big spring of rib, he's deep, he's got a good mother, she's had nine calves and we're sort of wanting fertility," Mr Brennan said.
"We breed at home at Boonah and Beaudesert with about 900 to 1000 cows, and we've got country at Taroom so the steer proportion goes there and we fatten and finish there for EU and Grasslands with Teys."
A second-top price of $17,000 was achieved twice in the Brahman section of the draft.
Lawson Geddes, Couti Outi, Kunwarara, made the bid early in the draft to secure the 36-month-old grey Yoman 113/8, while James Kent, Ooline Brahmans, Goovigen, outlaid the second-top money late in the catalogue to secure the 948kg, red Yoman 3198/8.
The draft of Red and Grey Brahmans sold for an average of $7134, with 61 from 65 going to new homes.
The Charbray portion of the sale saw all 14 bulls sell for an average of $7750.
A top price of $12,000 was reached twice for bulls offered by Chas and Judy Nobbs, Cordelia Stud, Moura.
George and Cathy Hoare, Rockview Cattle Co, Bluff, took home Cordelia 34, a 26-month-old cream son of AYR Baltimore's Flinn (CC).
Tipping the scales at 898kg, the sire prospect boasted an EMA of 141sq cm, scrotal of 39cm, IMF of 5.6pc, and P8 and rib fat depths of 11mm and 8mm.
Phillip and Stephanie Nobbs, Moura, selected the 22-month-old Cordelia 166.
Sired by AYR Elfin's Hudson (CC), the bull weighed 826kg, had an EMA of 136sq cm, measured 39cm in scrotal circumference, and had an IMF of 5.2pc.
Two Brangus bulls from the Lyndhurst stud also went under the hammer, selling for a top of $6000 and average of $5000.
McIntyre Cattle Co, Theodore, were once again the top volume buyers, putting together a draft of 15 bulls to average $5900, while Bloxsom Family Trust, Rolleston, and Penna and Sons, Ingham, each took seven.
