The number of cattle penned by agents reduced by 177 to 265 head at Toowoomba on Monday.
The regular buying panel was present and operating, with representatives covering all classes.
Young light weight cattle were in the largest numbers along with a handful of cows and a small selection of grown steers. Overall quality remains mixed and this was reflected in prices achieved, however similar to the previous week well bred lines experienced strong support from feeder operators, plus local and interstate restockers.
Light weight yearling steers made to 478.2c to average 424c, and poor quality lines averaged 356c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 428.2c, to average from 398c to 416c.
Light weight yearling heifers made to 438.2c to average 425c, with lesser quality lines averaging 328c. Yearling heifers to feed made to 402.2c to average from 392c to 395c. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 388.2c to average 384c.
The occasional full mouth bullock made to 288.2c. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 229.2c, and the best of the heavy weight cows made to 263.2c.
A Hereford bull ex Crows Nest sold for $1953, feeder steers a/c Lester family sold to $1900, cows ex Haden sold to $1543, and restocker steers a/c MF and LF Voll sold to 426c/kg to return $1372.
Trade weight heifers a/c G and W Motley, Plainby, sold for 402.2c/kg to return $1359. M and M Reichstien sold trade heifers to $1540. Light weight steers ex Umbiram sold to 478.2c/kg, with heifers selling to 438c/kg.
