The Monto Annual All Breeds bull sale saw a top of $15,000 on Saturday.
Offering 79 bulls from 26 vendors, the sale achieved a 96 per cent clearance rate for an average of $6894.
Jason and Geraldine Barnard, Caldy Droughtmasters, Monto, topped the sale at $15,000 with Caldy Heffner (P) D3.
At 25-months-old, Caldy Heffner tipped the scales at 892 kilograms, had an eye muscle area of 138 square centimetres, and a scrotal circumference of 37cm.
The sire prospect boasted P8 and rib fat measurements of 15mm and 11mm respectively, an intramuscular fat of 4.6pc and mortality of 70pc.
A long-term supporter of the sale, Neville Mossman, Boyne Valley, knew what he was looking for and was happy to outlay the top money, having already had success with three other Caldy bulls.
"The bull's temperament was very good, and he was polled and that gene goes back to his grandparents which is a big thing these days," Mr Mossman said.
He runs 350 breeders in coastal country in the Boyne Valley district, growing out 80 head to steers and the rest he sells as weaners.
Five Charolais bulls sold for the top average of $9600 and 100pc clearance, reaching the equal second-top price.
Roderick Binny, Glenlea, Coffs Harbour, NSW, offered Glenlea Louis P34 (P), which was purchased by G and C Hoare, Rockview Cattle Co, for $14,000.
Louis P34, a 26-month-old son of Charnelle Louis (P), tipped the scales at 1010kg, had an EMA of 150sq cm, P8 and rib fat of 10mm and 6mm, an IMF of 4.5pc and scrotal of 41cm.
Enjoying the equal second top was Paul and Kelli Forman, Oakwood Limousins, Electra, with Oakwood STR8 UP (P) selling to DD Duncan for $14,000 - the only Limousin bull offered.
Oakwood STR8 Up weighed 812kg at 22-months-old and had an EMA of 134sq cm, P8 and rib fat of 9mm and 7mm, an IMF of 4.6pc and a 39cm scrotal.
Four red Brangus bulls all offered by Peter and Kristine Dingle, Redline Brangus, sold to average $8625 and 100pc clearance rate.
The Droughtmaster lineup saw three vendors offer and sell 14 bulls to average $8000, while four Charbray vendors offer 12 bulls to an average of $7625 with 100pc clearance.
Twelve Angus bulls sold for an average of $6000 by three vendors with 100pc clearance.
Three Fleckvieh bulls sold for an average of $5666 and Fleckvieh/Droughtmaster cross sold for $7750 all by the Birch Family, Three Moon Fleckviehs.
Seven Red Brahmans averaged $5500 and the two Grey Brahmans averaged $5250.
Nine Shorthorn bulls averaged $4777, three Senepol bulls averaged $5500 and Murray Greys averaged $5500 for two bulls sold with 50pc clearance.
Agent Brad McInally, Monto Cattle and Country, wrapped up the sale by saying it was such a change from last year with the weather conditions and strong cattle market.
"At our sale here in Monto we want to offer good average bulls that make fair money for the vendors and the buyers and they keep coming back and this year we had over 134 bid cards which is the most we have had at this sale," Mr McInally said.
