With more bid cards registered than bulls on offer, the Sherry family were left smiling as the 4th annual Belmont Reds Bull and Female sale wrapped up in Gracemere on Monday.
Overall, vendors Robert and Jane Sherry, Wahroonga Belmont Red stud, Clarke Creek, accompanied by their three daughters, saw a complete clearance for 28 bulls offered through the ring at CQLX Gracemere, for a solid average of $8,500 and a top price of $13,000.
The Sherry family increased their bull sale average from the 2019 sale by $2880.
The heifer component of the sale saw a top of $4,500 reached twice, with a clearance of 80 per cent and average of $3600.
Paying top dollar was return buyers Lachlan and Trudy Mace, Red Ridge Grazing, Stanage Bay, to purchase Wahroonga RJS190077 for $13,000.
The 21-month-old bull tipped the scales at 696 kilograms, had an eye muscle area of 117 square centimetres, and a scrotal of 38cm.
Sired by Seifert 130061 and out of dam RJS150072, the sire prospect was the highest growth bull in the catalogue for 600 days.
Second-top priced bull for the sale was the equally impressive homozygous polled bull Wahroonga RJS190029 which sold for $12,500 to Paul Jacklin, Marian.
Mr Jacklin also took home Wahroonga 190097 for $9000.
Volume purchases saw Ian and Penny McGibbon, Ametdale, St Lawrence, end up with three bulls to average $7666, while Geoff Maynard, 5 Star Senepols, secured two bulls to head home to Mt Eugene, Jambin.
Paul and Julie Watson, Greenhills Belmont Red Stud, Toogoolawah, secured the top-priced heifers, paying an equal top price of $4500 for Wahroonga RJS190104 and Wahroonga RJS190124.
Both heifers carried full Corymbia bloodlines and polled genetics, two attributes of which the Greenhills stud were shopping for.
