Vendors enjoyed great success at the Power of Red VI Qld Red Angus sale held online at the Glenvale Room, Toowoomba Showgrounds, on Saturday.
The sale offered a diverse catalogue ranging from bulls, females, embryos and semen with 18 of the 20 bulls selling for an average of $7527 and top of $21,000, all four stud heifers selling to average $3875 and top at $5000 and a stud cow and calf sold for $8000.
Two embryo lots sold out of seven offered to average $1357, topping at $2500 per embryo for a package of three frozen embryos.
Seven of the 24 lots of semen sold for an average of $433 per straw, to a top of $500 per straw.
Kirrily Johnson-Iseppi, GK Red Angus, Dalby, sold GK Red 1B Power Up P1 (AI) (AMF) to David Coaker, Yallambee Red Angus, Crows Nest, NSW, and Arthur Kelly, AK Red Angus, Kangaroo Valley, NSW, via Elite Livestock Auctions for the sale topper of $21,000 - a record for GK Red Angus.
Power UP P1, sired by Red Double B Bullseye 1B (AMF) (MAF) (NHF) (OSF) CANM1788640 out of GK Red Bella X11 B30 GK B30, was the reserve champion bull at the 2019 Royal Queensland Show.
Weighing in at 1150 kilograms, the 31-month-old had a scrotal circumference of 39 centimetres, with eye muscle area of 146 square centimetres, P8 and rib fat measurements of 21mm and 14mm respectively, and an intramuscular fat of 7.9pc.
GK RED 624 Quick Draw Q3 (AI) GK Q03 sold to Graham and Sandra Jordan, Goonoo Red Angus, Tamworth, with AK Red Angus, Kangaroo Valley, NSW, for $15,500.
Quick Draw weighed in at 785kg at 22 months with a scrotal circumference of 38.5cm, an EMA of 120sq cm, P8 and rib fat measurements of 16mm and 10mm respectively, and an IMF of 6.2pc.
Craig and Renae Gapes, Triple M Red Angus, offered the top priced female, a cow and calf unit that sold to Clyde Johnson, Millmerran, for $8000.
Triple M Morojitti N57 (ET), sired by Red SSS Soldier 365W (AMF) (MAF) (NHF) (OSF) and out of Triple M Morojitti J79 (AI) (ET), was being prepared for the Melbourne Feature Show until COVID changed the plans.
Ms Johnson-Iseppi led the way with the vendors, selling four bulls to average $12,625 for a record GK Red Angus average and top price.
Triple M sold four bulls to average $5000, and Ross Anderson RA Red Angus sold three bulls to average $6333 with seven other vendors selling one bull each.
Ms Johnson-Iseppi sold one package of three frozen embryos, from sire Red Lazy Mc Tradition 111C (AMF) (MAF) (NHF) (OSF) and dam GK Red Ruba 26 G40 (AI) (ET) GK G40 to Wonga Lea Partnership, Cowra, NSW, for $2500 per embyro.
Agent Colby Ede, Nutrien said it was a good day and great to see people adapt to the in-room auction due to COVID-19 restrictions.
"There was great support from central and western Queensland and right through to New South Wales," he said.
The two remaining bulls sold at the conclusion of the sale, bringing the average to $7175.
