Ensuring generational success with Charbray genetics was front and centre in the minds of vendors when selecting their drafts for the 43rd National Charbray Sale being held at CQLX, Gracemere, on Monday, September 28 from 10am.
A striking combined draft of 67 registered bulls have been catalogued by 15 studs, including 11 returning vendors and four that will be making their sale debut.
Charbray Society of Australia president Matt Welsh said vendors for the sale are committed to the breeds success, with all bulls going through the ring bred and prepared with the breeds future in mind.
"One of the most emotional parts of being in Charbray seedstock production is when you know what you're producing makes sense, you know you have a good article to offer, and you want to get it under the noses of as many cattle producers as possible. This is exactly what's going through the minds of all Charbray National sale vendors," Mr Welsh said.
He said due to the breeds ability to be accepted into a wide range of markets the Society is finding that bulls from this sale are making their way further and further afield each year.
"Being our National Sale, it's the shop front for the breed.
"Charbray breeders have taken renewed confidence out of the success of last year's sale, given the trying conditions it was held in, and view building on that success as paramount, therefore I feel you will see some impressive lines of bulls coming through this year."
At the 2019 sale, bull prices reached a top of $26,000 and an average of $7186 for an 87 per cent clearance through the ring, which was up from the previous year's average of $5681 and a top of $24,000.
Mr Welsh said using 2018 and 2019 as yardsticks, conditions and weather forecasts for this year's sale have put those involved in a much more positive frame of mind.
"Also taking into account a much improved cattle market, the time couldn't be better for advancing on genetics and to take advantage of the position we find ourselves in."
The traditional Charbray Meet and Greet, sponsored by Ariat Australia & Liberty Oil, will be held at the saleyards, the day prior to the sale from 5.30pm.
"Come and join the Charbray community on the eve of our annual National Charbray Sale, and enjoy a relaxed evening where we share some good cheer."
You can even grab a chance to take home an elite heifer from two of the breeds leading certified studs.
"Renowned studs Huntington and Greenfields have generously put forward an Elite Heifer each to be taken home by two lucky number holders. The heifers will be on-show in the main ring with the lucky numbers drawn during the evening."
Lucky numbers are available by emailing admin@charbray.org (only 1 to 250 are available at $30 per number or four numbers for $100). Winners are to arrange collection of heifer(s).
Those unable to make it to the sale can view the action and bid through the Stocklive online selling platform, which you can register on by visiting stocklive.com.au
