INVITED vendors David, Helen and Ben Reid of Reids Charolais at Kingaroy topped the annual Ticoba bull sale at $23,000 on Friday.
Central Queensland studmasters James and Aleisha Pisaturo, Veejay Downs Charolais stud, Inga Downs, Dingo, paid the top money for Reids Pompeii P90E (P) (R/F), a 20-month-old son of Colinta Levi (AI) (P).
Mr Pisaturo said he (Pompeii) was a complete calf with great length and growth for age and will be used over DSK Meridian stud females to maintain the length and depth of his breeders with the added bonus of red factor and strong poll genetics.
Sale host Matt Kirk, Kirk Cattle Company, Ticoba Station, Mundubbera, was 'stoked' with his sale result which saw 75 Red Simbrah, Simmental and Red Factor Charolais bulls average $9393 - up $2243 on last year's result - for a total clearance of the draft.
"We presented a consistent line of bulls and they were well received by the buyers who bid strongly from start to finish," Mr Kirk said.
A quartet of Ticoba bulls attracted $16,000 including Ticoba 1215 (P), a 25-month-old AI son of the $210,000 Wheatland Kill Switch (P) and his younger team mate Ticoba 1210 (P), a 14-month-old pure Simmental son of LBR Crockett R81 (P) which were bought by John, Vicki and Jack Howard, Burleigh Estates, Mountain View, Biloela.
The first bull into the ring Ticoba 1229 (P) on account of Mitchell Kirk also made $16,000 and was bought by Alan Wenham of Meandarra as did Ticoba 1205 (P) which was knocked down to LSK Pastoral of Mundubbera.
Vaughan Campagnolo and Sarah Truran, Savannah stud, Myponga, South Australia, also shared in the limelight after selling Savannah P66, a homozygous polled son of TNT Bootlegger Z268, for $16,000 to 8PK Pastoral through TopX Australia.
