The strongest draft of bulls and females in the Santa Central Sales' 15 year history will be presented at the Headingly Sales Complex, Clifton, on Tuesday, September 15, from midday.

For the sale Scott Ferguson said this year's catalogue consists of 123 lots (74 per cent polled) made up of 33 led Classified S bulls, 79 unled Classified S bulls and 11 Classified S females.

"A wide range of genetics have been carefully selected from a cow herd of approximately 2200 classified cows, so we are only offering the best," Mr Ferguson said.

"The 2020 draft includes a number of first release sires purchased from leading studs across Australia."

Mr Ferguson said twelve studs will be offering drafts this year, most of which are return vendors with Craig Hindle of Bullamakinka stud being a first time vendor.

"As the annual on property Bullamakinka Sale has ceased, Craig made the decision to sell his selection of 20 bulls at Santa Central."

He said the sale provides great value for money buying opportunities.

"More than 65pc of the 2019 draft sold for $6000 or less. We saw quality bulls go to operations in the Northern Territory, South Australia, News South Wales, Tasmania and Queensland.

"We're optimistic about our prospects for this year's sale as most of NSW has seen a dramatic change in the season and Qld is generally seeing an improvement in conditions as well.

"This year vendors along with purchases of Santa Central genetics have received record prices for their commercial cattle at saleyards from Tamworth to Dubbo through to Dalby, Roma and Blackall."

Mr Ferguson said Covid-19 precautions will be in place for the sale.

"There will be a sign-in point at the entry gate of the sale complex, sanitiser will be readily accessible, there will be markings on the seating area in the sale ring to indicate 1.5m social distance, and hand washing stations, to meet Covid-19 recommendations."

Those unable to attend the sale can livestream the proceedings and make bids through the AuctionsPlus online platform.

Inspections of individual sale drafts are welcome at any time via appointment.

The sale catalogue is available to be viewed now through the Santa Gertrudis Breeders' (Australia) Association website or via the QR code on the Facebook page Santa Central Multi Vendor Sale. There will also be QR codes for each sale lot so interested parties can instantly access videos and photos by scanning the code through their smartphone camera.
