TWO crew members from a cargo vessel off the coast of North Queensland have today tested positive to coronavirus.
The workers were on board the ship off the coast of Bowen when they were tested for the illness.
Queensland Health said the crew members would be transferred to shore today and would be admitted to Townsville University Hospital for treatment.
All other crew from the vessel have been tested for coronavirus and returned negative results.
The cases are not considered to be a risk to the North Queensland communnity.
The crew members are two of the three positive cases in Queensland today.
The other was a male in his 30s who tested positive while in hotel quarantine after returning from Sydney.
He remains in quarantine and is also not considered a risk to the community.
Queensland has now recorded 1092 cases of COVID-19 and nine of those are still active.
The two young women who are alleged to have falsified their arrival information after travelling from Victoria last month before going about their business on Brisbane's south-side, before testing positive to coronavirus, are deemed to be no longer infectious.
The women, 19 and 21, and a sister of one of the travellers who also contracted the disease, have been released from the Princess Alexandra Hospital where they were treated in isolation.
The increasing numbers of cases in NSW prompted Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to again close the border with NSW and Canberra from August 8.
Victorians remain barred from entering Queensland.
