THE McLachlan family's quality Braford genetics were in hot demand during their Uralla herd dispersal sale at CQLX, Gracemere, on Monday.
With 81 lots on offer, the sale recorded a 95 per cent clearance with 77 lots selling to gross $250,200.
Selling agent Mark Duthie, GDL, said vendors Burke and Kym McLachlan, Uralla, Ubobo, were pleased with the result.
He said females in particular were highly sought after, with a five-year-old PTIC cow topping the sale at $12,000.
"They were very happy with the result and it was a great day for the breed, particularly the females, they got a very good spread on them," Mr Duthie said.
There was spirited bidding on 34 PTIC cows on offer, particularly when sale topper Uralla 592 (P) entered the ring.
Ultimately, Doug Bennett, Little Valley, Casino, placed the winning $12,000 bid.
The five-year-old polled cow was described as a classy outfit, with extra EMA producing potential, width and style.
She was PTIC less four months to Ascot Humphrey, which was also sold later in the sale.
Mr Bennett also bought the sale's second top price, another PTIC cow Uralla 631 (P) which sold for $9500.
The four-year-old had a small udder, however was said to produce heaps of milk to grow out great calves.
She was also PTIC five months to Ascot Humphrey.
All 34 PTIC cows sold to gross $139,750 to average $4110.
Sixteen bulls were offered, with 12 selling to an average of $2458.
Uralla Trailer (P) was the top price bull, selling for $9000 to Warren Wilson, Redbank, Mitchell.
The young polled bull is a son of Edengarry Matador (P) out of Uralla 649 (H) and was described as a future stud sire in the making.
The 13-month-old bull boasted an eye muscle area of 93 square centimetres, with P8 and rib fat depths of 7mm and 5mm, respectively.
Fourteen cows and calves sold to gross $55,250 and average $3946.
The top priced pair, Uralla 671 (P) entered the ring with a newborn bull calf at foot, sold for $8750 to J&C Ellrott, Big House, Morinish.
The 32-month-old polled cow was described as a tidy outfit, which was extra quiet. The calf was sired by Edengarry Matador.
The Ellrott family were active buyers at the sale, purchasing one bull, three cows and three cow and calf units.
Three PTIC heifers were sold to average $2333 with Uralla 700 (P) topping that section at $3500.
Doug and Suzie Barnett, Inverell, purchased the 18-month-old heifer, which was depastured with Ascot Humphrey since May 5, 2020.
The Barnetts purchased six lots in total, including one cow and calf unit, three cows and two heifers.
Fourteen unjoined heifers sold to gross $18,700 to average $1335 with eight-month-old Uralla 744 (P) topping at $2600.
