Amid a year of uncertainty, Queensland's Cause for Cocktails committee has plenty of reasons to celebrate.
Not only did it successfully host a sell-out event in Brisbane last Saturday but it's raised around $12,000 for Hear and Say.
That's more than the $10,000 that the same party raised for the cause a year ago, at the height of the 2019 Ekka.
"We're pretty stoked, considering the times," committee member Callum Smith said. "I think it was because of what they've gone through that everyone was in such good spirits on the night."
The outcome is especially rewarding considering at the height of Queensland's lockdown it looked very unlikely that any events would be held, he said.
"As things opened up, we decided we could do it, but we had to get creative.
"It was turned into a sit-down event so we had to change the food service and the service of alcohol."
Numbers were limited to 350 based on the square metreage at the New Farm riverside venue, Oxlades, and tickets were sold out within five minutes of going on sale.
"It was a bit of work to change it around but definitely worth it," Mr Smith said.
Cause for Cocktails has supported Hear and Say for a number of years now.
As an event normally run around Ekka time, it's usually well attended by regional and metropolitan people alike, which is one reason an organisation such as Hear and Say is selected as the beneficiary.
Mr Smith said that because Hear and Say, a leader in paediatric implantable technologies, including cochlear implants, supplies services to both city and country areas, it was suitable for town and country alike to support.
