A chilly start greeted visitors at the Silverdale Saleyards before the weather, and the Ekka prime beef competition, turned red hot.
There were 130 entries catalogued, with Yarrawonga Cattle Company winning the Queensland Country Life grand champion pen.
Following the judging of the prime cattle, the ALPA Queensland Young Auctioneers Competition took place.
Brodie Hurley, Nutrien Livestock, Injune, went on to claim the top title, with Justin Rohde, Nutrien Livestock, Rockhampton, named runner up.
