Yarrawonga Cattle Company dominated the 2020 Ekka prime cattle competition, claiming two of four champion ribbons and the Queensland Country Life grand champion pen.
Their pen of three Santa Gertrudis heifers scored the purple ribbon for the pen of three steers or heifers class, before going on to be awarded the grand champion broad ribbon and the Syd Vellnagel memorial trophy.
Andrew Bassingthwaighte said they were very excited.
"It's been a long time since we've won the pen competition so it's really good," he said.
"The pen of heifers, we always thought were pretty exceptional at home and always thought they might do well in their class, but to take out the whole thing was really exciting."
Weighing an average of 533kg, the grain-fed heifers sold for 490 cents a kilogram to Woolworths.
The Santa Gertrudis pens were the ones to beat on the day, with Rob and Lorraine Sinnamon, Yulgilbar Pastoral Company, NSW, also being named on the champions board.
They claimed the Nutrien champion pen of six steers for their 120-day grain fed entry, weighing an average of 625kg.
Purchased by Coles, they sold for 408c/kg to make $2550/head.
Rounding out the champions board was long-time competitors Noel and Liz Cook, Kindon, Goondiwindi.
They were awarded the Queensland Country Life champion single steer ribbon and the Elders shield of excellence for a 120-day grain fed Limousin-cross weighing 710kg and sold to JBS 442c/kg.
