THE 566 hectare (1398 acre) Beaudesert district property Wirraway has sold at auction for $8.05 million.

Offered under instruction from KPMG Australia as agents for the mortgagee, the Scenic Rim property was taken to auction by Danny Bukowski, C1 Realty, Beaudesert. The auctioneer was Mark McCabe of Apollo Auctions.

Mr Bukowski said that there had been very strong interest from day one of the campaign with 13 parties battling it out to secure the property on July 31.

"Wirraway received one of the highest levels of inquiry and inspection rates I've ever had for a property," Mr Bukowski said.

"So we knew there would be some keen buyers come auction day."

Located at Biddadaba, about an hour's drive from the Brisbane CBD and the Gold Coast, Wirraway is predominantly cleared, flat to gently undulating country rising to timbered ridges.

The property has 12 dams, three bores, fencing in good order and pastures of mixed natural grasses.

There is also an air strip and two large hangars. Wirraway is named after the military aircraft manufactured in Australia during WWII.

"Despite the prevailing uncertainty with COVID-19, the historically low interest rates combined with the overall strength of the agribusiness sector are factors drawing buyers to the market," Mr Bukowski said.

The buyers are understood to be local landholders who acquired Wirraway to increase the carrying capacity of their Beaudesert aggregation.
