The opening Murray Grey bull sold to Exeter, Tasmania through AuctionPlus at the Wallawong Murray Grey and Angus bull sale at Gunnedah on Thursday.
An average of $6300 and top of $12,000 was achieved for the Murray Grey and average of $4625 and top of $7000 for the Angus.
The James family sold 24 of the 29 bulls on offer for an overall clearance of 83 per cent.
Bulls sold down as far as Tasmania, and as high as North Queensland.
Top price Murray Grey bull Wallawong Prince P12, will be heading to Clermont,Queensland to repeat buyer Karmoo Pastoral for $12,000.
The son of Bottlesford Kudos and from a daughter of Bundaleer True Blue A68 weighed 865 kilograms in the ring.
The 25-month-old is in the top 10 pc for all growth traits and top 1 pc for Eye Muscle Area.
Karmoo also purchased two other Murray Grey bulls for an average of $8,000.
Bulk Angus purchaser was Swanton Pastoral of Manilla, who purchased four Angus bulls for their commercial program to a top of $6000 and average of $4500.
Swanton manager Alistair Yencken was quite taken with Wallawong Pioneer P23, a Millah Murrah Hector M153 son who he purchased for $6000.
The auction was conducted by Elders Gunnedah, with Paul Dooley as auctioneer.
