After an extended hiatus, the Leucaena Network conference will return with a condensed program on September 8 and 9.
Leucaena Network executive officer Bron Christensen said the event had always been a key opportunity for graziers, industry partners, researchers and extension personnel to learn from each other, share and seek information.
Ms Christensen said the shortened conference program had made the two days very affordable for attendees.
"We believe the opportunity for this industry interaction is more important than ever, particularly at this time as industries and locations emerge out of lockdown," she said.
The range of topics at the conference will include new and emerging opportunities, including progress on the development of a sterile leucaena, the expanding scope for leucaena applications and producer experiences in alternative establishment and management strategies.
"We have had to amend our program in line with the inability of international speakers to attend however the line-up of guest presenters remains impressive - researchers, graziers and industry representatives who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences to expand delegates' perceptions of leucaena.
"We are continuing to cater for those new to leucaena or who may be considering their options for future plantings with the inclusion of a fact filled 'Introduction to Leucaena' workshop.
"Attendees will not only gain the basics for successful establishment but will have access to a producer panel who can provide first-hand information on what worked, and what did not work in their specific circumstances."
There will be a member's breakfast and formal dinner on day one at The Ville, Townsville. On day two, delegates will be able to see the utilisation of leucaena and fodder and enteric emission trials at CSIRO's Lansdown Research Station, followed by a visit to the Heatley family's Byrne Valley property to learn about leucaena under flume irrigation.
