There were 991 head yarded at Stariha Auctions Laidley cattle sale on Thursday.
With registered buyers only attending the sale, a good quality line-up of cattle was on offer.
With solid support from a core group of buyers, the market held up well. Feeder cattle rates were back to previous sales, while weaners and younger cattle were still strong.
John and Donna Jackwitz, Grandchester, sold lines of Simmental steers, 24 to 28 months, for $1950 and $1900. Ron Gehrke, Summerholme, sold a Senepol bull for $3100 and pens of cows and calves for $1600.
Greg and Jude Moore, Ridgewood, sold Droughtmaster cows for $1350 and lines of calves three to four months, with males making $670 and heifers $590. Pat Speedy, Clumber, sold Brangus bulls for $1880 and $1820 and Brangus weaner steers for $1010.
Graham Retschlag, Kilcoy, sold yearling heifers for $1050-$1185 and Angus vealers for $865. ALB Pastoral, Harlin, sold Brahman heifers, 18 to 20 months, for $1300, 15-month-old heifers for $1170 and cows and calves for $1710.
