A BROAD rain band stretching from the South East Queensland coast across into the South Australia shows handy 10-15mm falls during the next eight days.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast shows accumulated falls as part of a system delivering even more promising 25-50mm for a large part of NSW.
BoM says a high over New Zealand extends a firm ridge along the east coast of Queensland.
"The high will move slowly east across the Tasman Sea in the next few days, maintaining the ridge along the coast," the forecast for Queensland reads.
"A weak trough extends through Torres Strait and will also act to focus shower and thunderstorm activity.
"Over the coming week, a series of upper level troughs developing over southern Queensland will lead to a surface trough pushing eastwards across the southern interior, and will provide instability over the area.
"The trough over the far north is likely to begin to deepen early this week and a tropical low may develop over the far north western Coral Sea."
BoM's outlook for April says rainfall is likely to be above average for scattered parts of southern Queensland, the southern NT, NSW and Victoria.
There is a 60-70 per cent chance of drier than average conditions for along parts of Queensland's east coast.
