GLENMORGAN property Morwenstow has sold at auction for $5.64 million, the equivalent of about $2106/hectare ($852/acre).
Auctioned by Ruralco Property, GDL Real Estate in Toowoomba, the 2678 hectare (6616 acre) property was bought by Ken Phelps, Glenmorgan.
Morwenstow is located on the Surat Development Road 7km east of Glenmorgan. The well grassed property is in two freehold titles.
Morwenstow is described as having mainly quality, soft brigalow, belah country running into portions of melon hole country. There is a mixture of brown to grey clay soil types with a portion of lighter red soils where buffel grows prolifically in normal seasons.
There is 596ha under cultivation and 250ha of farmed that has been returned to pasture.
Water is sourced from a bore, three dams, Pongi Creek and melon holes in normal seasons.
Improvements include a steel frame shed, which can be used as accommodation with shower, toilet and lights, and cattle yards.
