A BIG green blob is promising to deliver about 50mm of rain across a big section of South West Queensland.
Bureau of Meteorology modeling shows the best of the rain for the south west is set to fall on Saturday and Sunday, possibly helping to fill in some of the seasonal gaps.
The big green blob is surrounded by the promise of up to 25mm.
BoM's eight day forecast through to February 27 shows most of Queensland receiving at least 25mm of rain, with the best falls in the south west and in north Queensland, particularly on the upper peninsula.
BoM also advised that on Thursday and Friday a tropical low could develop in Gulf of Carpentaria, which is expected to develop quickly with an increasing risk of a tropical cyclone later on Saturday.
BoM said initial movement of the tropical low will likely be slow and erratic before moving in a general south to south west direction later in the weekend.
