THE praise continues for an improvement project at the Dawson Jockey Club's track in Taroom.
More than $108,000 has been spent providing new tie-up stalls and a fenced area for patrons, raising safety for racegoers and horses. The money was made available through the Country Racing Support Package.
Racing Queensland's General Manager Club Partnerships and Assets, Melinda Martin, said it was "fantastic" to support regional Queensland through country racing.
"The Dawson Jockey Club is an integral part of the social fabric in Taroom," Ms Martin said.
The Jockey Club's racing co-ordinator Graham Rewald said members were happy with the work.
"It's so pleasing to have licensees and the public come forward to compliment the club on the work that had been done," Mr Rewald said.
"I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Dawson Jockey Club to thank the Racing Queensland infrastructure team for how they managed the project to make sure the job was done right and on time.
"It's also a credit to the Queensland Government for providing the CRP funding."
Race meetings scheduled in Home Hill and Innisfail last weekend were abandoned because of predicted high temperatures and a program set for February 18 at Warwick has been switched to February 21.
On February 22 there will be meetings in Goondiwindi (60 nominations), Innisfail, Mackay where the $37,000 QTIS Jewel Qualifier (1100m) is the feature, Roma has five planned events and Thangool will also stage five races for prizemoney of $37,250.
