A total of 15 potential led show steers and heifers were offered for sale after the led steer judging at the Clifton Show last Saturday.
Overall, 13 head sold to average $1880.
Sale organiser Ben Passmore, Benjarra Limousins, Clifton, topped the sale with a Limousin/Angus-cross steer which sold for $4600 to a Darling Downs led steer syndicate and will be shown on the show circuit.
In all, the Darling Downs syndicate bought four steers to average $2575.
Another steer from the Benjarra stable made the second-top money at $3500, again selling to the Darling Downs syndicate.
A Benjarra Limousin/Shorthorn-cross heifer sold for a top price of $2300. Overall, the Benjarra draft averaged $2330
Mr Passmore, offered seven head that he would normally have kept to compete on the led steer circuit.
Of his seven, four were halter broken and ready to go straight into competition.
Mr Passmore said by having the potential show sale, it added another dimension to the stud cattle exhibits at the show.
Julia Simmons, Clifton, offered Angus/Limousin-cross steers that sold for a top of $2000 to average $1630, while Noel Pauli, Nobby, offered three Limousin/Hereford-cross steers selling to a top of $1300 to average $1200
Selling agent Matthew Grayson, GNF, Warwick, said the sale results were very pleasing.
