METEOROLOGISTS are keeping a close eye on a Cyclone Uesi, a tropical low with winds of up to 200km/hour currently north west of New Caledonia.
While is it still too early to accurately predict whether the category 3 storm will eventually head, it is currently traveling in a south westerly direction towards Australia.
If it maintains that path Uesi could be impacting on Australian waters by Thursday.
Regardless of Uesi, the Bureau of Meteorology is predicting good falls over eastern and north Queensland over the next eight days.
Falls in the 25-50mm range are shown from the Queensland/NSW border, across the Central Highlands, along the tropical coast and across the peninsula.
Online forecaster AccuWeather showed a number of storms over the region (see map below).
