A crowd of more than 200 gathered at the Tattersall's Club, Brisbane, on Thursday for the Rural Press Club of Queensland's first lunch for 2020.
Attendees heard from Red Meat Advisory Council chairman Don Mackay about the Red Meat Memorandum of Understanding White Paper and the proposed changes as a result of consultation.
Mr Mackay urged the beef industry to recognise that in 2030, our consumers could be our best asset.
He said the industry needed to work collaboratively towards an ethically, environmentally and economically sustainable business model.
"We need to get on with it, put aside our individual biases and help raise the tide that will lift all vessels in this industry," Mr Mackay said.
"In Red Meat 2030, we have the plan and the resources to go out and deliver for business and be an industry of profit, of people and of purpose.
"We need industry leaders to take this current opportunity to show real leadership, rather than deflecting change, and kicking it into the long grass again."
