For two-year-old twins Skyla and Hayley Ievers, the recent weather event in north west Queensland was the chance for some good old-fashioned muddy fun.
Kristy-Lee and Daniel Ievers from Gregory Range Station, located 140km north of Richmond, were in town when the rain came, bringing up the Stawell River.
The couple have a town house where Mrs Ievers stays with the twins and older children Hollie, 6, and Brock, 4, during the school year, while Mr Ievers also does some work in town.
Mrs Ievers said she had tried to keep the twins out of the mud, but the duo were determined to have their fun.
"They just ran for it," she said.
"The rain has let us all have some time off, it's been really nice."
The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 147.6mm over Richmond in three days last week and Mrs Ievers said the atmosphere was a lot happier than during last year's weather event.
"This time it's more joyous," she said.
"Last year it turned sad really quickly."
