Challenges to farm profitability and productivity were explored at Grains Research and Development Corporation update sessions at Capella and Moura in November, where growers were keen to hear of the latest innovations.
Timing plantings with frost damage in mind, the potential trade issues surrounding chemical residues, how to manage gross margins with variable rainfall, and plenty of other issues were canvassed over the two days.
The day in Capella concluded with a session in which emerging agronomists networked with established peers in an Australian first initiative aimed firstly at shortening the time taken to take up new information, but ultimately working to help growers.
