A LAND and air search is underway for 25-year-old Trent Grose after a four wheel drive was found abandoned on an cattle property near Richmond.
The vehicle was located by a station owner on November 27 in an isolated area on the property, which is located between Richmond and Julia Creek, about 75km west of Richmond.
The vehicle was found with a flat battery. It is possible the vehicle had been in this location for several days before it was found.
Police were notified today of the abandoned vehicle and following inquiries believe Trent was the driver. He was last in contact with friends about two weeks ago.
Police say they hold fears for his welfare as the area is experiencing high temperatures.
Trent, who has previously worked on rural properties in Central Queensland, did not work at this property where the vehicle was found abandoned.
Searches on Saturday involving police and two helicopters failed to locate Trent. The search will resume on Sunday morning with police, SES, local station personnel and equipment, as well as helicopter support.
Trent is described as Caucasian, about 195cm tall, with a proportionate build, short brown hair and blue eyes.
