Hay balers were a winner for the CNH Industrial brands Case IH and New Holland at this year's Agritechnica, held in Hanover Germany.
Case IH won Machine of the Year in the hay and forage category for its LB436 HD baler.
Designed to producer denser bales, CNH Industrial said judges were particularly impressed with its innovative twine knotter system designed to boost productivity while eliminating twin off cuts, ensuring zero forage contamination.
"This type of loop knot increases knot strength by up to 30 per cent, for greater baling efficiency and productivity," it said.
The New Holland BigBaler 1290 High Density baler was also recognised as Machine of the Year in the technical innovation category.
CNH Industrial said the selection criteria for this award focused on innovative features, performance, productivity, cost of operation, ease of use and operator comfort.
"The baler produces up to 22pc denser bales when compared to a conventional large square baler, significantly increasing transport and bale handling efficiency," it said.
"The model features an award winning SmartShift gearbox technology with two-speed start-up to deliver smoother baler engagement, thereby protecting the tractor driveline."
CNH Industrial, in conjunction with Claas, John Deere and 365 FarmNet was awarded Machine of the Year in the electronics section for DataConnect, a global platform allowing mixed-fleet customers to share their machine information through the telematics platform of their choice.
